Sloyd is a Swedish word, Slöjd (handicraft, handiwork), and means creating crafts through woodworking.

I primarily work in wood.  I have gotten away from sandpaper, mostly, but if I want a level of finish beyond knife and axe marks, 
I use a scraper.
